With an area of 4,697 square kilometers with Surian as its center, Bavanat County is located in the northeastern part of Fars Province. It consists of three districts: Central, Sarchehan rural district and Mazayjan. Surian is situated 220 kilometers northeast of Shiraz.
The highest point in this county is Khatoon Peak, which stands at 3,362 meters and is located south of Surian. Bavanat County borders Abarkuh County (Yazd Province) to the north, Khatam County (Yazd Province) to the east, Arsanjan and Neyriz counties to the south, Pasargad and Khorrambid counties to the west.
