Keeyov Lake is located in the northwest of Khorramabad, inside the city. Keeyov Lake is called Saraav in the local Lori dialect, Saraav is the same as Saraab (Mirage) and Keeyov means blue.
Keeyov Lake includes an area of seven hectares, with a depth of three to seven meters. The water of this lake is supplied from the springs of Mahmel Kouh, Golestan spring and also from the springs of the lake bed. In the past, Keeyov was a seasonal lake, but with the addition of Golestan spring water, which runs through Flak al-Aflak Castle, Keeyov has become a permanent lake.
There is also Keeyov Park next to the lake. Zagros Botanical Garden was built here for genetic storage of Zagros forests and botanical research. Zagros Botanical Garden with an area of twelve hectares on the west bank of Lake Keeyov was opened in 1395 AH. Zagros Botanical Garden are divided into several parts for medicinal plants, wild and native fruits, systematic garden, greenhouse and nursery. Among the animals of Lake Keeyov, you can see birds such as egrets, pied kingfisher, pelican and stork.
