The house of Nima Yushij (1276-1338), a famous poet of Iran, is located in the valleys of Alborz, the village of Yush, five kilometers west of Baladeh, in Nur city, 110 kilometers away from Amol and 180 kilometers from Tehran, Mazandaran province. This house, whose name is included in the list of National Monuments of Iran, belongs to Nima Yushij or Ali Esfandiari, the son of Ibrahim Nouri, known as A'zam-al- Saltaneh, and Tuba Miftah. The house was also in the possession of wife of Ali Jahangiri for a while, the niece of Mirza Jahangir Soor-e Esrafil, the famous constitutional journalist of Iran.
Yush is a village with a relatively old history in the mountainous and summer climate, whose pristine nature and rural texture have been well preserved. The presence of the house of Nima's father in this village has added to the cultural value of the region. His birthplace, which is also his tomb, is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings of the Qajar period. Siros Tahbaz, the writer and collector of Nima's works, and Mrs. Behjat al-Zaman Esfandiari, Nima's sister, have been also buried in the yard of the house. The house of Nima Yushij was registered in the list of National Monuments of Iran (No. 1802) in 1375 AH, by the cultural heritage organization and it was later reopened in 1388 AH as the museum of the father of modern Persian poetry and literature.
Nima Yushig house is located inside a sloping alley. The architecture of this house is a memorial of the Qajar era. The house of Nima Yushij's father was built in the 13th century by the order of his grandfather, Nazem al-Ayale, in Koi Laloo-e Yush. Nima Yoshij house has been made of clay, mud and wood. It includes three gates, two courtyards, a hall and an alcove. The first gate is in the south and there is a columned Iwan here. The door leads to the vestibule. A vestibule with stairs leads to the building and, on the other side, it leads to the courtyard.
The northern Mian Sara is located on the other side of the building. The rooms are distributed around the courtyard on four sides and all of them are interconnected through a corridor. There is a five-door room above the doorway and two three-door rooms are located on its two sides. Two corridors are built on both sides of the alcove leading to the storeroom and other rooms.
Three rooms of this building have been currently turned into the library and museum of Nima's manuscripts. Paintings and photo frames of Nima and her relatives can be seen everywhere on the walls of the rooms. Nima Yushij house is decorated with colored glass, curved skylights, wooden doors, sashes, wooden floor of the rooms, brickwork, plasterwork, arches and ledges.
In the courtyard, which has a stone floor, there are three stones marking the graves of Nima Yushij, Sirus Tahbaz and Behjat Esfandiari, Nima's sister. Nima's tombstone is placed under a wooden gazebo. The statute of Nima has been installed in the lobby of the house. Today, the Museum of Anthropology is also placed in this house.
