There are many different tourism attractions in Mazandaran that are the host of many tourists every year. One of these attractions is Kandolus village.

In order to reach Kandolus you must proceed Chalus road and enter Kojur road by passing Marzan Abad, after Doab crossing. From there you can see the sign of Kandolus. It is one hour from Marzan Abad to the historical village of Kandolus.

The village has proper tourism facilities like motels and restaurants. You can also buy handicrafts from the shop.

This countryside village has a long history of the residence and is among the unique villages in Iran that has a museum. The region is located in Alborz hillsides reaching to Zanoos valley. Therefore, the surrounding nature is highly spectacular.

One of the important features of Kandolus is a full security and its cleanness. However, above all, the interesting architecture of the village attracts your attention.

The wooden gable roofs and small windows are similar to the cartoons. The walls were made of cob or their façade was of cob and their narrow alleyways have been paved. The village is wonderful to such an extent that you can enjoy your travel for many hours without tiredness.

Don’t miss visiting the Ethnography Museum of Kandolus; it is the first rural museum that was constructed in a large two-storey building.

Many different objects like clothes, metal and wooden instruments, sculpture and painting are exhibited in the Ethnography Museum of Kandolus. Some of these objects are related to the second millennium BC showing the culture of Mazandaran people.

In addition, the Museum of Medicinal Plant began its work in this village from 1365 SH. Approximately 250 species of plants have been cultivated here from which various essence, vegetable oil and medicinal plants are extracted. A part of these products are exported abroad.  

Based on the memories of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, Kamal Al-Molk, the famous painter, was with him in travel to Mazandaran. When they were passing Kandolus village, the painter depicted the beautiful landscapes of this region on the canvas and they are now exhibited in Sahebqaraniyeh Palace, in Niavaran Complex.
