Moshteh is a kind of one-sided kilim which is woven on the traditional fabric loom machine. Its warp is made of cotton and the weft is of colorful wool. Moshteh is similar to Moj Bafi (a kind of product which is also woven using loom) by the appearance, however, its colors and patterns are different. Moshteh patterns are mostly imaginary which are designed in the weaver’s mind at the same time. Most of the weavers in the region are women. This kind of handwoven product, which is an indicator of the handicrafts of Kohgiluyeh and Buyer Ahmad province, is specially made in a village named Darghak.  The process of warp winding in this one is quite similar to what is done for the common kilim. Even, the main weaving process starts after several wates are woven in the same way as the, kilim weaving in which the yarn is simply twisted around the warps and then, it is transferred to the next warp. After finishing that part, which is made of a single color, the end of the used yarn is cut with 1.5 to 2 centimeters left. The next color is woven in the same way and as a result, the extra yarns of one-sided kilim (Moshteh) are arranged while weaving and finally left with a distance more than it is between the rug piles, without any specific order. After the end of the production process, Moshteh kilim is cut and separated from the loom and then, its below surface that is plain and flat, with beautiful patterns, is considered to be the upper surface and the other side, which has extra piles, is the back of the Moshteh product. The distinctive feature of this pretty handwoven product compared with the common kilims is that there are no holes on the borders between two nearby patterns and each color is completely tight with the next one. Due to the left piles in the below of Moshteh, it is more soft and also larger in diameter, than the other common kilims are. On the other hand, common kilims are two-sided and both are usable but, as mentioned earlier, Moshteh is one-sided. Two kilograms of wool is needed for weaving one kilogram warp. If the weaver is skillful enough, it took them eight to ten days to weave a Moshteh of one and a half square meter. In addition to the ground cloth, Moshteh is used as prayer rug, table cloth, counterpane, cushion and so on.
