Sovas is a kind of footwear including an insole and two laces on the foot which are passed through the middle of two toes and a lace in the back. Sovas is typically woven with palm fibers however Mazari palm is also used in Bashagerd and Fin for fabricating this product. The final product is different by gender.

For making this footwear, the artist should be skillful enough. Palm fiber which is used for this craft is called Sis. The procedure includes separating the small leaves or offshoots from the main plant, leaving them in the sun to dry, beating them, and spinning some of them to be used as yarn and warp while the rest is spun partially to be woven as waft.

Sovas is woven using these warps and wafts in which the weaver fastens the Sovas to foot with a lace of the same material. In the next stage, the stringed leaves are twisted together right at the same size as the soles of the feet. In order to be tighten and fasten enough, they put the semi-finished product under the pressure, over and over again.

Adding laces is different based on the gender; the lace is made of Chilok fabric sewed on the insole of the Sovas using a special kind of needle named Derosh. The process includes inserting the needle from below and removing it from above and then inserting again to a desired point on the insole.

Sovas is almost 28 centimeters long and eight centimeters wide. There is an added lace in the back of male Sovas.
