Behshahr is located in the east of Mazandaran province and on the height of 20 meters above the sea level. The city leads to the Caspian Sea from the north, the Alborz Mountains and Semnan province from the south, Golestan province from the east and the Neka County from the west' it has two mountainous regions in the south and a plain in the north.
The mountainous area climate is cold and temperate and there are terraces and arable lands in the plains valley.
This city consists of 3 part named “Markazi”,”Galogah”, ”Yaneh Sar”, 3 cities “Behshahr”,”Rostam Kela”,”Gelogah” and 5 rural districts. Behshahr is a good weather city with tourist, natural and historical attractions in Mazandaran province. Pomegranate, citrus, rice, sunflower oilseeds, Bahshahr's rapeseed has been famous and this city is one of the centers of seeds, vegetable oil and soap producing in Iran so that its cotton factory dated back to many years ago. The economic importance of this area has been increased by Behshahr and Sefid Chah industrial complexes. Behshahr people are Muslim and follower of Shia they speak in Mazandarani and Farsi dialect.
