Kalat in the northeast of Razavi Khorasan is located among the mountains at the height of 863 meters above the sea level. This city is adjacent to a relatively low mounds and Turkmenistan from the north. This city is surrounded by Hezar Masjed Mountain and Mashhad from the south, Sarakhs from the east and Dargaz from the west.
The climatic conditions of this city are moderate. Kalat consists of 2 parts named ”Markazi”, ”Zavin“, 2 cities as ”Kalat“, ”Shahrzu”and 4 rural districts. Suitable climatic conditions, mines, historical monuments, the area’s natural coverage, original regions and kalat’s attractive countrysides with tourist locations have created a special place in this area.
Agriculture, gardening, livestock, service activities and traditional arts like rug weaving constitute the economy of people in this region. Fars, Kormanj, Turk, Ardalan and some Arab tribes with different religions and languages live in this city.
