Dr. Rahgoshay Museum is one of the most educational, interactive, and active museums in Iran. Located in the city of Badrood in Isfahan province, this amazing museum, which has attracted many foreign visitors, is now known as Dr. Rahgoshay Museum. Managed by a French woman, this museum is actually a cultural and mystical treasure that was established by Dr. Mohammad Rahgoshay, the son of the late Ali Akbar Rahgoshay, in their historic house.
Dr. Rahgoshay Museum covers an area of approximately one hectare and is located in the southwestern highland of Badrood. This building is a product of the first years of the Pahlavi era and has been revived after several restoration periods in its various parts. From an architectural point of view, this building belongs to the category of houses in dry climates, and its architectural style and form are fully consistent with this climate, so that it can be used in every season.
The purpose of establishing this museum is to get to know the culture of ancestors and the rich Iranian culture and to introduce it to the modern era to the generation that has not experienced that culture. Dr. Rahgoshay Museum is a living museum of anthropology that has created a scientific and cultural space with attractive tourism and entrepreneurial capacities. Efforts are being made here to identify and strengthen the talents of children and teenagers.
In some parts of this museum, we see the revival of indigenous occupations, old specialties, and local traditions, which are among the components of national identity for every Iranian. In line with achieving these goals, the museum has set up a significant collection of artistic, scientific, and cultural educational courses in calligraphy, painting, music, astronomy, doll making, and photographing celestial bodies. The establishment of traditional festivals and ceremonies and the creation of a native dollhouse with dolls possessing an identity card have been among the other exciting activities of the museum in recent years. The managers of this museum try to teach the local history of this region to today's generation, as the slogan of this museum is to create a connection between the past and present.
In the dollhouse of Dr. Rahgoshay Museum, 40 doll models have been made, and 150 dolls with identity cards have been prepared. These dolls wear local clothes and represent individuals and personalities who perform the ancient occupations of the region. The dolls are made of fabric, wood, carpet wool, thread, and cotton, all of which have full compatibility with the environment. The activities of this museum are entirely based on research and scientific work, so that an article on the goals and philosophy of making dolls was presented to UNESCO in 2015. Shadi and Hadi Badi are the names of dolls that were prepared with a message of peace and friendship and with the aim of congratulating the new year of 1395, and they traveled around the world. This collection of dolls was officially unveiled on April 16, 2016.
In addition to the educational courses mentioned above, Dr. Rahgoshay Museum has also provided workshops to introduce medicinal herbs and spices under the title of the Green School. Teaching the design and construction of indigenous dolls for children, teaching music notes to children, and familiarizing them with stamps, maps, manuscripts, lines, and coins are among the other educational activities of this museum.
