Textile is one of the handicrafts which had always been popular is many cities of Kurdistan province. The products of Kurdistan textile include a wide range of handwoven fabrics each with special features and history in the region. The main products are Jajim, Shawl, Chador Shab, Termeh, Moj or Chiri, traditional spinning, traditional karbafi like Armak, towel, Izar, Jim, Frat, Qanaviz, Karbas (sackcloth), Choqa, Navar weaving, made using the same method popular in the south of Iran, and the traditional Abrisham Keshi (silk knitting).

Moj or Rakht-e Khab Pich (wrapper for bed clothes) is a soft and practical handwoven fabric used typically in the house of villagers. People in Kurdistan use also these products as a blanket in cold seasons. The coverage of Korsi (sandali) and as curtain are other uses of Moj fabrics. They are made of wool in form of a fabric of 2.25 in four sheets, equal to 9.5 meters. Moj Bafi (weaving) Dastgah (loom) is the principal part of the craft which is installed either on the ground or inside a hole. The weaver accompanied by someone who twist the bobbin are responsible for making Moj. The center of knitting Moj is Uramanat so that most of the knitters are either from there or they have learnt the craft from a master in that place. That is why we have a reputed pattern on Moj products named Urami. Other famous motives include Kashkuli, Par-e Tavousi (peacock feather), netted, black and white, red bed, swore, pool, pray, alter, hammer (Chakhmaq), flower, comb, grape, Kal-e Kabki (head of partridge), butterfly, bird, scissors, tree and fish, Toranj, dome-like, Bazuband, etc. 

It is in the same studios where Kurdistan artisans create other textile products of the province like Sajadeh (the prayer rug). They are 100 in 150 centimeters consisting of two sheets. 

knitting shawl using some simple tools on Two-Verdi Dastgah (knitting machine) is the other famous product of Kurdistan. They are popular in Marivan, Baneh, Saqqez and Uramanat. Kurdish men’s local cloths, glove, hat, socks and ankle jewelry are sewed by means of shawl fabrics. 

Marqoz is a narrow fabric with 10 centimeters of width and 21 meters of length made in bright and dark beige, brown, gray and black. knitting this one is popular in cities and villages around Sanandaj. It is used for making Chokhoranak, the local men’s cloth in Kurdistan. 

Jajim is another fine product of Kurdish textile knitter which is almost popular in all villages of the province. It is actually considered one of the main source of income among Kurd women.
