Golpayegan is one of the oldest cities of Isfahan Province with a mountainous and variable climate. Cold winters, warm summers and temperate springs and autumns give Golpayegan a four-season climate.

Being located in the center of Iran, Golpayegan is 156 km far from Isfahan to the northwest. It has a shared border with Khomein to the north, with Khansar to the south, with Aligudarz to the west, and with Meymeh to the east.

Golpayegan constitutes of a central part, three cities of Gogad, Golpayegan and Golshahr and 52 villages, its people speak in Farsi and Golpayegani dialect. Most of inhabitants are occupied with agriculture and husbandry so that the related products are the pain products of the city.

In addition to agriculture and husbandry, there are several important industrial centers in this city which make the economic foundations there. The significant industries of automobile manufacturing, dairy factories, stone and gold mines and metallurgy have been the main industrial and economic indicators of the city in recent years.

Golpayefan has a pristine nature and many historical attractions. Green plains in the spring are the provenance of tulips, anemones and Fritillarias, the fruit gardens and red flowers are among the attractions of this city.

The city has been placed on the hillsides of Zagros Mountains which become covered with snow during the winters depicting an awesome landscape for the region which attracts the tourists’ and nature-lovers’ attention.

Timreh Rock Relief, historic mosques and brick minarets,  
Pigeon house and historic bath are the main attractions of Golpayegan. The best time for visiting Golpayegan is spring and autumn. The opportunity to watch green vernal plains and autumnal colorful gardens is an unrepeatable attraction for tourists.

The most famous local food in Golpayegan is Kebab. Iranian travelers who are familiar with this delicious food plan certainly to try Golpayegan Kebab during their travel. The main souvenir is handicrafts like carpet weaving, Giveh Douzi, marquetry, making leather artefacts and masonry. Dairy, honey, bread with milk, fresh and dried fruits, Tarkhineh, the traditional Zaban (tongue) cake of Golpayegan and local cookies are the other Golpayegan souvenirs.  

One of the especial ceremonies in this city is the interesting custom of the wedding of Qanat; in the past, the drinking water of the city was supplied from the local Qanats and whenever the water was getting low or Qanat becoming dry, people held a wedding ceremony for Qanat and invite it to a new life and revitalization through joy and hoping. The festivity was tented to hold in the late of winter when people were disappointed of the supplying water.
