Encompassing an area of 3500 to 4200, Parishan or Famour lake is one of the largest lakes of drinking water in Iran and Middle East. Its is 820 meters higher than international waters. The drainage basin is about 266.5 square kilometers while it experiences the largest area on may. The lake has been registered as an international wetland during the Ramsar convention and it is considered as a protected area in regional divisions. Parishan is the only lake with drinking water in Iran plateau which enjoy 3.5 to 5 meters depth of water. The main features of the lake are not related to its delicious fish and drinking water, but it is highly significant and crucial as an ecosystem so that there are 353 species of domestic and nondomestic birds living here. Nondomestic and migrating birds come here from far distances like Siberia, Canada and Denmark. They return to their hometown after a season. The lake hosts so many cranes, duck, flamingo, stork, herons as well as pelican. 

The water sources which feed the lake are mostly rainfall and underground water springs as well as the springs of Abgineh, Jamshidi, Garab bridges and Famour river. Spring and autumn appearances of the lake especially its narcissus fields are spectacular making a natural promenade. The Cultural Heritage Organization of Fars Province has established some service installations and camping benches for tourists and travelers in collaboration with the Department of Environment.
