The area of Cheshmeh Ali in Damghan is located in the north of Damghan, about thirty kilometers after the city, between Astaneh village and Dibaj city. Cheshmeh Ali leads to the northern parts of Golestan and also Mazandaran province, from the north.

Cheshmeh Ali River is the only permanent river in the city. The water of this spring originates from the northern mountains. Due to the greenness and good weather, the region has been the focus of interest from a long time ago, among passengers and specially Qajar kings. Today, there are only two buildings left from the whole Qajar constructions:

  1. The building belonged to the reign of Aqa Mohammad Khan Qajar, under the same name.
  2. The building constructed in time of Fathali Shah Qajar, under the same name.

Aga Mohammad Khani Building

Aga Mohammad Khani Building has been located in front of the second pool, in two stories. There are a lot of decorations in this building, including lancet arches and brick Muqarnas. Some part of porches and halls has been covered by plaster. The construction materials used in this building had been adobe which has been later restored by brick.

Fathali Shahi Building

There is a two-story building with a semi-rectangle plan and two facades inside the pool which the water of Cheshmeh Ali enters after passing through rocks, named Fathali Shahi building.

The northern façade of this building includes two picturesque columns covered by the wood. The building has several doors and windows which make possible enjoying the outside air. Since the building is placed inside the water, it has been constructed of the Sarooj, which is durable enough.
