House of Ameriha in Kashan is located in the historical context of this city. It is one of the main tourism attractions of Kashan. The house is placed in Alavai street. Three other magnificent houses are also observed in the neighboring of this house. They are Abbasiha House, Boroujerdiha House and Tabatabaieha House. Ameriha is one of the oldest and the largest houses of Kashan which had been built before the earthquake of 1192 AH (in time of Karim Khan) or the earthquake of 1260 AH (in Qajar period). Based on the construction date of other neighboring houses, it is assumed that destructive earthquake of Ameriha occurred in 1844. Accordingly, its prosperity and revitalization occurred is in Qajar.
The house of Ameriha includes two independent court yards related to the Biruni (outer) and Andarouni (inner) segments. There is also another open yard in this house which is called Baharband. The main feature of this building is the large area of both yards and the glory of spaces and decorations. Rooms are perfectly organized where a range of high quality service had been provided for the guests. The outer yard, or Ibrahim Khalil Khan, is the first space entered by guests. Some stores and pavilions have been hold around this yard, that occupy approximately 115 square meter of the space of the house. In addition, prayer hall, tea house and cafeteria, hairdresser’s and pastry, for cooking traditional-local cookies, are all placed in this house.
The architecture of Ameriha House is Persian, both in the structure design and its decorations. The inner and outer segments are decorated with glorious Persian stucco and Monabbat (wood carving) art works. The principle of symmetry has been considered in all elements of the house and the windward constructed above this house is the highest windward among Kashan houses. The house has two men and women bathrooms and it is the only house of Kashan with gender-restricted bathrooms. The spring house of Ameriha House had been used in the summers. Also, the architecture and design of this house is inspired by the desert areas of Iran. The presence of elements like windward, spring house, Bahar Khab, summer space, winter space, high roofs and light color used in the house are all the evidence of Iran desert areas.
Currently, Ameriha House has been converted into a grand hotel. Tourists can visit the house while staying in the rooms.
