Marin Village is situated in thirty-six kilometers north of Gachsaran and one hundred and ninety-eight kilometers southwest of Yasuj, in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province. The village has Deli Ganj mountain (on the north), Khami (on the east), and Kuh-e-Dil (on the south west) in its neighborhood.
Marin Village is along the Royal Road from Susa to Persepolis and Bishapur and it has a lot of ancient castles. In the past, the word Marin was Mar (snake) and Ni (no), which means no snake lives there anymore. The inhabitants of Marin Village speak in Luri with Dily accent.
Being more than one thousand meters above the sea level, Marin Village rests on slopes of the valley. Shah Bahram River is on the northeast of the village and Kosar Dam makes a lake in seventeen kilometers of Marin. The cottages are made of clay and chopped straw, stone, adobe, bricks, wooden beams and sometimes iron beams, plaster, and cement. Just like Masuleh, this village has a Pelekani (literally meaning staircase) architecture style. This means that the roofs of a series of the building serve as the courtyards and streets of the buildings above them.
The people in Marin are farmers, gardeners, and ranchers. Dry farming and wet farming are common to grow wheat, grain, and vegetables. Also, they cultivate fruits like pomegranates, lemons, grapes, and figs. in Marin Village, men wear shirts and trousers, felt hat, shawl, leather belt, Zunnar, Giveh, and Galesh; and women wear kerchief, headdress, shirt, trousers, chador, and Giveh.
Kilims, Jajims, carpets, and carpet-bag are some of their handicrafts. The inhabitants play Seven Stones, Kal Kal Bord, Gorna Man Kish, Ferbjak, Tarkeh Bazi, Chogo, and Barreh Ghazi. They cook Aush-e Kardeh, ash-e Doogh, rice pudding, Nan-e Tiri (a kind of lavash), pomegranate molasses, butter, yogurt, Doogh, or Maghz-e Baneh (nuts of a kind of mountain pistachio).
Kooseh Galin or the ceremony of Spring is one of the rituals which begins from 10th of Bahman or Esfand, or even in Farvardin. Being one of the rites of Mir-e Nowrouzi (a kind of comedy to celebrates the New Year, which coincided with spring in Iran), this rite is accompanied by Sorna, Dohol, and Naqareh.
Animal species occurring throughout the region include boar, wolf, fox, hawk, ovis, rabbit and partridge. Some medicinal plants like Tragacanth, Echium amoenum, Viola, and also pistacia terebinthus can be found among the plants in the region of Marin Village.
