The building is placed in Rasht city, in the mild, humid climate and in the east side of Kiab neighborhood and Sabzeh Meydan. The history of the library backs to Qajar period and it was later restored in Pahlavi period when some other parts were added to the main structure. The building got on fire in 1988 because of the negligence of one of the tenants in which not only was the roof collapsed, but also the wooden doors and windows, stucco decorations, mirrorwork and wooden Girih tiles were badly damaged. It was completely restored at the owner’s expense under the supervision of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.

Qadiri House was bought by the organization in 1989 in order to change its function to administrative. Since then, the building has been constantly restored. It was later vacated in 2002 in order for a total restoration to be carried out.
