Marmisho Lake is placed in the border area between Iran and Turkey, in the west of Urmia and it is considered to be one of the main pristine promenades of the region and the province. The region is covered by forest trees which are green in all seasons of the year. It is located in the northwest of Urmia. It is one of the natural tourism attractions of West Azerbaijan province in the green region of Targavar Rural District. The lake is placed inside Bani valley on the hillside of border mountains between two countries. Marmisho Lake has a spectacular and pleasant landscape and it is one of the best places for rest, attracting the attention of everyone. 

You have to take approximately 45 kilometers away from the west of Urmia city to see the indigo Marmisho Lake  in the middle of the mountains of this city near the border area. Your path will pass through the margin of Nazlou River placed in the west of Urmia while you will see the Pesan and Bani villages along your way to reach Marmisho village. The road is passing through a beautiful valley with a mountainous landscape. After finding the shrine of Pir-e Khorasani and going on in a rocky route, you will get the destination. 

Marmisho Lake is the habitant of a lot of animals and plants such as trout fish, trees like widow, oak, cottonwood, hawthorns, plants like milkvetch, Tulipa montana, Liquorice, wild Irises etc. please notice that the lake atmosphere is quite calm and proper for fishing in all seasons except for the spawning season. 

You can also visit a waterfall nearby along the path of Nazlou River besides visiting and camping next to the lake. The waterfall is seasonal flowing down through the rocks of the nearby mountains of Nazlou River. 

You can also see the nomads’ tents in the region; they use this area as a countryside destination for warm seasons. Getting familiar with tribes’ lifestyle is extremely interesting. Due to the lake’s geographical location in a mountainous area, it is better to travel in warm seasons. The best time for planning this trip is July and August.
