Divandareh is located in 98 km north of Sanandaj, with the height of 1850 meters above the sea level. This city enjoys a mountainous climate with a cold winter and moderate summer and its climate is the same as Bijar (the roof of Iran) by vicinity to this city from the east.
Divandareh consists of three parts naming “Markazi“,”Karaftu” and “Saral”, two cities as ”Divandareh“ and “Zarineh” and nine rural districts. This region contains 15 % of Kurdistan province vastity. There are so many rivers in Divandareh most of which resulted from melting the snow and seasonal rainfall. Divandareh is one of the main centers of wheat production and animal husbandry in Kurdistan province by vast plains of Obato and Saral that plays a main role in the economy and the people life. Heritages such as Karaftu cave as the sign of civilization and life related to four thousand years ago is one of the Iran tourism attractions in this region.
The language of Divandareh people is Kurdi-e Sorani in a specific dialect. Various tribes such as Goran, Golbaghi, Tilkoei, Jaf, Manami (Mandami), Barazandeh, Khajevand, Eil-e Kalhor, Zand and Ghaghali live in this area. Most of Divandareh people are Sunni.
